ALASKA IDITAROD ADVENTURE 2023
What are you doing for Spring Break? Join us here in Alaska to get closer to God, meet new friends,
serve God by serving others, and have a great time!
You are going to hit the ground running when you get here. Friday, we'll get you trained and also take
you on a spectacular snow hike. That evening we take you to the largest Native American Christian
Music event in Alaska. Saturday, we'll drive to Willow, Alaska, site of the Iditarod re-start on Sunday,
and set up the race. Others of you will work as trail guards along the Saturday ceremonial race start
route. On Sunday, we'll be helping put the race on — setting every thing up, overseeing parking cars,
working race security, serving as dog handlers, and tearing down and cleaning up after the race.
As you rub shoulders with race volunteers, mushers, and musher friends/familes, it is a great time to
share your Faith.
Afterwards, we'll return to Anchorage and begin to go to work doing other things such as volunteering at Anchorage Food Bank for the Hungry, working with kids at the local Boys and Girls Clubs, shoveling snow for the elderly, building projects, serving in Homeless shelters, and working with children/youth in local parks after school.
We are going to work hard, but we will also have time to play. For fun, there will be opportunities for snow-hiking in the forest, moose-viewing, awesome sledding, shopping, and checking out the Northern Lights. You might even get a chance to mush (drive) a dog team!
NOTE THAT IDITAROD RACE COMMITTEE PROBABLY WILL REQUIRE THAT ALL VOLUNTEERS WORKING AS DOG HANDLERS AND IN MUSHER LOT BE VACCINATED FOR COVID.

We live here in Alaska and have been doing this for 16 years. We have more experience than anyone
in Alaska hosting mission volunteers. People keep coming back again and again because they trust
us and we know what we are doing. And our food will be the best you have ever had on a mission
trip!
How much? We do a turn-key project that covers everything except airfare.
Housing, all meals, transportation, staff hosting, and airport transfers. Recommended donation that
covers our costs is $700/pp. . This is our most popular project
of the year and it fills up quickly. We cannot confirm you until
receive your application and $50 deposit
(send to Graceworks, 4149 Checkmate Dr, Anchorage, AK 99508).

Note: The Iditarod Volunteering portion of this mission is very physically challenging. Please do not sign up if you are not
in good health. Housing requires climbing stairs.
Note: There is always a possibility of them moving the race start to Fairbanks instead of Willow due to lack of snow.
If this happens, the schedule above will change and we spend a day going to Fairbanks and a day returning. And ... it will
be much colder!
