GraceWorks Works!

Our mission

is to partner with local churches to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout Alaska by mobilizing mission teams to serve children, youth, and families, cultivating a multiplying Jesus movement.

How we share Jesus.

We work year-round with local churches and community partners to build relationships, identify needs, and prepare meaningful opportunities for mission teams to serve. During the summer, we host neighborhood outreach events in parks Monday through Friday, creating spaces where children and families can experience the love of Jesus through games, activities, and genuine relationships.

As we serve, we have the privilege of sharing the Gospel and witnessing lives transformed by God's love and truth. Long after mission teams return home, our local church partners continue investing in those relationships so the impact of each mission trip lasts well beyond a single week.

Why Alaska?

Alaska is the least church-attending state in the US? Only 36% of Alaskans say they identify with any religious group.  Alaska is far less churched than any of the Central American and Caribbean countries. People think of Alaska as a tourist destination, but we are a mission field.

People don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care. We create opportunities for our mission volunteers to do good works to create good opportunities to share the good news!

We practice radical hospitality because we believe that when mission teams are cared for well, they are better equipped to love and serve the communities God has called them to reach. We strive to provide a welcoming, clean, and well-organized environment where teams can feel at home, with comfortable facilities, dependable support, and great meals that allow them to focus on ministry and building relationships.

So WHY serve with US?

Although we were among the first organizations to significantly mobilize church mission teams to share Christ here in Alaska over 20 years ago, we realize you now have many organizations to choose from. We live here! When other mission groups go home, we’re still here. Reaching our neighbors is our passion, and over the past 20 years we’ve built lasting relationships that continue long after mission teams leave.

We own a fleet of well-maintained 15-passenger vans for your team to use, and we strive to serve the best food you’ve ever had on a mission trip—including fresh Alaska halibut and salmon in the summer, and of course, Ms. Donna’s famous strawberry cake! All of our volunteers sleep on comfortable beds in our clean housing facility, and each summer our highly motivated team of 40–60 volunteer staff is dedicated to caring for every mission team. We practice radical hospitality in everything we do. Perhaps best of all, we’re more affordable than most other Alaska mission organizations.

Drop us a note or give us a call—we’d love to talk with you!

About GraceWorks Alaska

Since 2007, Grace Works Alaska has welcomed more than 10,000 volunteer missionaries to serve across the state. In addition to our urban outreach, we have helped facilitate dozens of mission teams serving in Alaska Native villages and now host 50–60 church groups each year. Because Alaska is our home, we know the communities, understand their needs, and have spent nearly two decades building lasting relationships. Today, our Summer GraceWorks Campaign is the largest Jesus-centered outreach event in Alaska each year. We are a non-denominational, evangelical mission, and if you'd like to learn more about us, we'd be happy to connect you with churches in your area that have served alongside us.

"We are passionate about providing a meaningful and rewarding experience for every mission team, equipping volunteers to serve with purpose, build genuine relationships, and leave a lasting impact on the communities they encounter."- Scott
